Indications
Marvelon is a combined oral contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy. This medication primarily works by inhibiting ovulation, altering cervical mucus, and modifying the endometrium, which makes fertilization and implantation of the egg difficult. In addition to its use as a contraceptive method, Marvelon may be indicated to regulate irregular menstrual cycles, treat menstrual disorders, and relieve symptoms associated with menstruation. The product's effectiveness is guaranteed when used appropriately, following the doctor's instructions and adhering to the dosing schedule.
Composition
Each tablet contains 0.15 mg of desogestrel and 0.03 mg of ethinyl estradiol as active ingredients. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Marvelon is contraindicated in women with a history of venous or arterial thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, breast cancer or hormone-dependent organ cancers, as well as in those with active or decompensated liver diseases. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in women with a family history of thrombosis, hypertension, diabetes, or migraines. Regular medical follow-up is recommended, and any unusual symptoms should be reported. The use of Marvelon may increase the risk of thromboembolic events, so it is essential to assess individual risk factors before initiating treatment.
