Indications
Luvik is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, in combination with diet and exercise. It is used as a first-line treatment in patients who do not achieve adequate blood glucose control with lifestyle changes. It may also be indicated in patients requiring additional glucose management after metformin use or in those who cannot use metformin. Glimepiride acts by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas and increasing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
Composition
Each Luvik tablet contains 4 mg of Glimepiride as the active ingredient. Additionally, it may contain excipients such as starch, lactose, and other components that allow for tablet formulation.
Contraindications
Luvik is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, and in patients with severe renal insufficiency or severe liver disease.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with cardiovascular disease, renal or hepatic insufficiency. It should be used with care in elderly individuals, as they may be more susceptible to adverse effects. Monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential to prevent hypoglycemic episodes.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
