Indications
Luvik is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients. Its use is especially recommended in those who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise, and who do not require insulin as part of their treatment. Glimepiride works by stimulating insulin secretion by the pancreas and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, which contributes to more effective glucose level control. It can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, depending on medical evaluation.
Composition
Each Luvik tablet contains 2 mg of glimepiride as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medication.
Contraindications
Luvik is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or any component of the formula. It should not be used in individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus or in those with diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as in patients in a diabetic coma.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with cardiovascular diseases, moderate renal insufficiency, or in those undergoing treatment with other medications that may interact with glimepiride. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels and dose adjustment according to the patient's needs are essential. Use in pediatric populations has not been sufficiently studied, so its use is not recommended in this population.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
