Indications
Lamictal (lamotrigine) is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy in adults and children over 2 years of age. It is used as an adjunctive therapy in patients with focal seizures or generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorder, helping to prevent manic and depressive episodes. It should be administered with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any of its components. The dose should be adjusted individually, and a gradual initiation of treatment is recommended to minimize the risk of adverse reactions.
Composition
Each dispersible Lamictal tablet contains 100 mg of lamotrigine as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients suitable for dispersible tablet formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any of the excipients in the formula. It should also be avoided in patients who have experienced severe skin reactions related to the use of lamotrigine in the past.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver diseases, as they may require a dose adjustment. Additionally, it is recommended to monitor patients during treatment for the appearance of adverse reactions, especially during the first few weeks of treatment. It is important to avoid abrupt discontinuation of the medication, as it may precipitate an increase in the frequency of seizures.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
