Indications

Exbuten (Apixaban) is indicated for the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. This medication is also used for the prophylaxis and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is essential in the management of patients who have undergone major orthopedic surgery, such as hip or knee replacement, to reduce the risk of clot formation. Furthermore, it can be administered to patients with a history of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism to prevent recurrences.

Composition

Each Exbuten tablet contains 5 mg of Apixaban as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Exbuten is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Apixaban or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in those with severe liver disease that may cause coagulopathy. Patients with significant active bleeding or conditions that predispose to bleeding should also avoid the use of this medication.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Exbuten to patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as those with a history of bleeding. It is advisable to monitor renal function in patients over 75 years of age or in those receiving concomitant treatments that may increase the risk of bleeding. Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended, unless strictly necessary.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
