Indications
Daxon is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by protozoa and helminths. It is effective in the treatment of giardiasis, amebiasis, and infections by certain types of helminths, such as taeniasis and ascariasis. It is also used in the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by Cryptosporidium and in cases of acute rotavirus diarrhea in children. Nitazoxanide, its active ingredient, acts by interfering with the energy metabolism of parasites, leading to their death and elimination from the body.
Composition
Each Daxon tablet contains 500 mg of nitazoxanide and excipients necessary for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitazoxanide or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with severe liver diseases and in those with a history of severe gastrointestinal disorders.
Precautions
The use of Daxon is recommended under medical supervision in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those who are taking other medications that may interact with nitazoxanide. The doctor should be informed about any other ongoing treatment before starting Daxon therapy. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless strictly necessary and under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
