Indications
Cortax is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic pain of various etiologies, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is also used to relieve pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea, as well as postoperative pain. Celecoxib, its active ingredient, works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which results in a decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins, responsible for inflammation and pain. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis.
Composition
Each capsule contains 200 mg of celecoxib as the active ingredient, and excipients such as gelatin, titanium dioxide, and other components necessary for the capsule formulation.
Contraindications
Cortax is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to celecoxib or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. Furthermore, its use is contraindicated in patients with severe heart disease, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Cortax in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, or in those at increased risk of thrombotic events. It is essential to monitor renal and hepatic function during treatment. Likewise, combination with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should be avoided to reduce the risk of adverse effects.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
