Indications

Cerazette is an oral contraceptive indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women of childbearing age. Its formulation, based on desogestrel, a progestogen, allows its use in women who wish to avoid pregnancy without exposure to estrogens. It is especially suitable for women who cannot or prefer not to use estrogen-containing contraceptive methods, including those who are breastfeeding or have a history of venous thrombosis. Cerazette primarily acts by inhibiting ovulation and altering cervical mucus to make it difficult for sperm to pass. In addition, it may offer non-contraceptive benefits, such as reduction of dysmenorrhea and regularization of the menstrual cycle.

Composition

Each Cerazette tablet contains 0.75 mg of desogestrel as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in women with a history of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, severe liver diseases, breast cancer or hormone-sensitive organ cancers, as well as in those with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula. It should not be used during pregnancy or lactation without proper medical supervision.

Precautions

Regular medical follow-up is recommended during treatment with Cerazette. Special care should be taken in women with a history of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, or who smoke, as these conditions may increase the risk of adverse effects. Patients are advised to report any unusual symptoms, such as leg pain or difficulty breathing.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of reach of children.
