Indications
Zertalin (azithromycin) is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective in the management of respiratory infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis, as well as ear, nose, and throat infections, including pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections. It is also effective in the treatment of certain sexually transmitted infections, such as urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Azithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, resulting in the death of bacteria and the resolution of the infection.
Composition
Each Zertalin tablet contains 500 mg of azithromycin as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients that facilitate the formulation and administration of the medication.
Contraindications
Zertalin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, any macrolide, or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe liver dysfunction or severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias, as azithromycin may prolong the QT interval. It is important to evaluate liver and kidney function before starting treatment. In case of severe or persistent diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 25 °C (77 °F).
