Indications

Wermy (Gabapentin) is indicated for the treatment of neuropathic pain in adults, as well as in the management of partial epileptic seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is also used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. Gabapentin has been shown to be effective in reducing pain intensity in patients with diabetic neuropathy and other conditions affecting the nerves. The medication works by modulating the release of excitatory neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, which helps to relieve pain and control seizures.

Composition

Each Wermy capsule contains 300 mg of gabapentin as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, magnesium stearate, and gelatin.

Contraindications

Wermy is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gabapentin or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without proper risk-benefit assessment. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to anticonvulsant medications.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of depression, mood disorders, and/or suicidal thoughts, as well as in those concurrently taking other medications that may affect mood. Gabapentin may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so care should be taken when driving vehicles or operating heavy machinery. Renal function should be monitored in patients with pre-existing kidney problems.
