Indications
Warfarin is indicated for the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It is also used in the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with atrial fibrillation or with mechanical heart valves. This medication acts as an anticoagulant by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, thus reducing the formation of blood clots.
Composition
Each tablet contains 5 mg of warfarin in its active form. Additionally, it may contain the following excipients: lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Warfarin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to warfarin or any of its components, as well as in those with active bleeding, hereditary bleeding disorders, severe hepatic insufficiency, and during pregnancy, unless its use is justified. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving treatment with certain medications that significantly interact with warfarin.
Precautions
It is important to constantly monitor INR (international normalized ratio) to adjust the warfarin dose and prevent hemorrhagic complications. Patients should be informed about the importance of avoiding foods rich in vitamin K, as these can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment. Caution should be exercised in elderly patients, those with liver disease, kidney disease, or significant cardiovascular pathology.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
