Indications
Vildagliptin is indicated as a treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. Its use is recommended in combination with metformin or sulfonylureas when diet and exercise are not sufficient to control blood glucose levels. It can also be used as monotherapy in patients who do not tolerate metformin. Vildagliptin acts by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which results in an increase in incretin hormones, thus contributing to the reduction of blood glucose after meals. It is important that the treatment is accompanied by an appropriate diet and physical exercise plan.
Composition
Each tablet contains 50 mg of Vildagliptin. Excipients: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and other excipients.
Contraindications
Vildagliptin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Vildagliptin or to any of the excipients of the product. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with moderate or severe renal insufficiency. Renal function monitoring is recommended before and during treatment. In addition, the possibility of hypoglycemia should be considered when used in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
