Indications
Vildagliptin is indicated as a treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. This medication can be used alone or in combination with metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin, when diet and exercise, along with a single medication, do not achieve adequate glucose control. Vildagliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which leads to an increase in incretin hormones, promoting insulin secretion and reducing glucose production in the liver.
Composition
Each tablet contains 50 mg of vildagliptin as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of pancreatitis. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment. In case of symptoms of hypoglycemia, concomitant treatment should be evaluated.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in its original packaging, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
