Indications

Valsartan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used in patients with heart failure, as well as in those who have suffered a myocardial infarction, in order to improve cardiac function and reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with these conditions. This medication works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, a compound that causes blood vessel constriction, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure and a reduced load on the heart.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Valsartan 80 mg. Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Valsartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valsartan or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to its potential teratogenic effect. It is also contraindicated in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in those with a single functional kidney.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of angioedema, kidney disease, dehydration or hypovolemia, as well as in those undergoing treatment with diuretics. It is important to monitor kidney function and blood potassium levels during treatment with valsartan. In patients over 65 years of age, the dose may require adjustment.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
