Indications
Valclan 875/125 mg is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations, including upper respiratory tract infections, middle ear infections, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, and certain skin infections. This medication is effective in combating susceptible pathogens, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Escherichia coli. Its use is particularly relevant in cases where amoxicillin resistance is a factor to consider, due to the presence of clavulanate, which enhances the antibacterial effect of amoxicillin.
Composition
Each Valclan tablet contains 875 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of potassium clavulanate as active ingredients. Additionally, it includes excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Valclan is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or other antibiotics in the penicillin group. It should also be avoided in cases of hepatitis or jaundice associated with the use of amoxicillin/clavulanate.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or previous allergic phenomena. It is advisable to monitor kidney function in patients treated with high doses or during prolonged treatment. In case of severe allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
