Indications
Valclan 875/125 mg is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to the action of the combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate. This medication is used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, such as acute and chronic sinusitis, acute otitis media, and community-acquired pneumonia. It is also indicated for urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as bone and joint infections. Its use is recommended when resistance to other antibiotics is suspected or has been demonstrated, due to the action of clavulanate enhancing the effect of amoxicillin against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.
Composition
Each Valclan tablet contains:
- Amoxicillin (875 mg)
- Potassium clavulanate (125 mg)
Contraindications
Valclan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. It is also contraindicated in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions to any component of the formula. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease or jaundice associated with the use of amoxicillin-clavulanate.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease or those receiving anticoagulant treatment. It is important to monitor liver and kidney function during treatment. In case of severe diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
