Indications

Traxacord (methotrexate) is indicated in the treatment of various malignant neoplasms, including leukemias, lymphomas, and solid tumors. It is also used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and severe psoriasis. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of DNA synthesis, which limits cell proliferation in affected tissues. Additionally, it is used in the management of miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, as well as in some cases of gestational trophoblastic disease. It is essential to follow the dosing guidelines established by the treating physician, considering the patient's clinical condition and response to treatment.

Composition

Each Traxacord ampoule contains 500 mg of methotrexate in 2 ml of injectable solution. Excipients: water for injection, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (to adjust pH).

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methotrexate or to any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe liver failure, severe kidney failure, active infections, severe oral ulcers, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with pre-existing liver, kidney, or hematological diseases. Regular monitoring of hematological and liver parameters during treatment is important. Live vaccines are not recommended during methotrexate treatment due to the risk of infection. Patients should be informed about the possibility of adverse effects and the importance of consulting a doctor if unusual symptoms appear.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
