Indications

Topiramate is indicated as adjunctive treatment in patients with epilepsy, specifically for partial seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is also used for migraine prophylaxis in adults. This medication works by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain, helping to reduce the frequency of seizures and prevent the onset of migraines.

Composition

Each tablet contains:

  • Topiramate: 25 mg
  • Excipients: croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Topiramate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to topiramate or any of the components of the formula. Likewise, its use is not recommended in pregnant women, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) and in those with liver or kidney problems.

Precautions

It should be used with caution in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, as there may be an increased risk of depression, suicidal thoughts, or mood changes. Regular monitoring and dose adjustment as needed are important. In addition, abrupt discontinuation of treatment is recommended to be avoided, as it could induce an increase in seizure frequency.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.

  1. Free home delivery by local branches on orders over $1000. Otherwise, a $50 fee will be added in the cities of Querétaro and La Paz, BCS, and $150 in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, BCS.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
