Indications
Tolterodine is indicated for the treatment of urinary incontinence and urinary urgency associated with bladder disorders. It is especially useful in patients with symptoms of overactive bladder, characterized by an urgent and frequent need to urinate, as well as episodes of incontinence.
Its action is based on the antagonism of muscarinic receptors, which helps reduce bladder contractile activity, allowing greater control over urination and reducing episodes of urgency.
Composition
Each tablet contains 2 mg of Tolterodine as tolterodine tartrate, as well as excipients necessary for the product formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Tolterodine or any of the components of the formula. It should also be avoided in patients with urinary retention, narrow-angle glaucoma, and myasthenia gravis, as it can worsen these conditions.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, heart disease, or those being treated with other anticholinergic medications. Its use should be evaluated in elderly patients, who may be more susceptible to adverse effects. Furthermore, care should be taken when driving or operating machinery, as Tolterodine may cause drowsiness or dizziness.
Storage
Store the medication in its original packaging, in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not store at temperatures above 30°C.
