Indications
Sucralfate is indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers. It works by forming a gel that coats the gastric mucosa, providing a protective barrier against gastric acids and promoting the healing of lesions. It is used in patients with gastritis, reflux esophagitis, and for the prevention of gastric lesions induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It may also be useful in cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and in patients with a history of peptic ulcers.
Composition
Each tablet contains 1 g of sucralfate as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and presentation.
Contraindications
Sucralfate is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sucralfate or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment due to the possibility of drug accumulation.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of intestinal obstruction, as sucralfate can cause constipation. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid simultaneous administration with other medications, especially those that require an acidic pH for absorption, as sucralfate may interfere with the bioavailability of these drugs. Medical monitoring is important in patients with chronic gastrointestinal diseases.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, out of the reach of children. Protect from light and moisture.
