Indications
Soltrim is indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis media, and other respiratory system infections. It can also be used in the treatment of gastrointestinal infections and in the treatment of Pneumocystis jirovecii infections in immunocompromised patients. It is important to perform culture and sensitivity tests to ensure treatment effectiveness.
Composition
Each Soltrim tablet contains 160 mg of trimethoprim and 800 mg of sulfamethoxazole as active ingredients, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the drug's components, as well as in those with a history of severe adverse reactions to sulfonamides. It should not be used in patients with severe renal insufficiency, severe liver disease, or in neonates.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hematological disease, as well as in those with dehydration or folate deficiency. This medication should be used with care in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and in the elderly. Adequate monitoring of renal function is necessary during prolonged treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
