Indications
Skemca 500 mg is indicated for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer, as well as for adjuvant treatment of stage II and III colorectal cancer. It is also used in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs. Capecitabine acts as a prodrug that is converted to 5-fluorouracil in the body, allowing a selective cytotoxic effect on cancer cells, inhibiting their growth and proliferation.
Composition
Each Skemca tablet contains 500 mg of capecitabine as the active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Skemca is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to capecitabine or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of severe liver disease or in patients with a history of severe toxicity to other antineoplastic agents. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Regular hematological monitoring is important during treatment, as capecitabine can cause myelosuppression. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart disease, as it may increase the risk of cardiovascular adverse events. Furthermore, dose adjustment is recommended in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
