Indications
Similaxol is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, including occasional constipation. Phenolphthalein acts as a stimulant laxative, promoting bowel movements. This medicine can be used in situations where quick relief from constipation is needed or when it is necessary to facilitate bowel evacuation in patients who, for various reasons, have difficulty evacuating. It is important to consider the use of this medication under the supervision of a healthcare professional, especially in cases where constipation is persistent or associated with other symptoms requiring medical attention.
Composition
Each Similaxol tablet contains 100 mg of phenolphthalein as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients necessary for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Similaxol is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to phenolphthalein or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in cases of intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, or inflammatory bowel diseases. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease or severe dehydration.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Similaxol in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those who are being treated with medications that may interact with laxatives. Prolonged use of laxatives can lead to dependence, so it is advisable not to use this medication for prolonged periods without medical supervision. It is important to assess the patient's general health status before starting treatment.
