Indications
Prednisone is a corticosteroid used in the treatment of various medical conditions. It is primarily indicated for the management of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and allergic dermatoses. It is also used in the treatment of some respiratory conditions like severe asthma and in the management of hematological diseases, such as certain forms of leukemia. Furthermore, it can be indicated in severe allergic processes and in the treatment of neoplastic diseases. It is important that its use is supervised by a physician, who will assess the need for treatment and the correct dose according to the patient's condition.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Prednisone 5 mg.
Contraindications
Prednisone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids or to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in untreated systemic infections, as well as in patients with active peptic ulcers or with systemic fungal infections. It should be used with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, and in those with a history of psychiatric illnesses.
Precautions
Care should be taken when administering Prednisone to patients with cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, or to those who are receiving immunosuppressive treatments. Regular monitoring during treatment is essential, as is adjusting the dose according to the patient's response. Prolonged use may require a gradual reduction in dose to avoid adverse effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
