Indications
Octreotide Pisa is used in the treatment of diseases associated with excessive hormone secretion, especially in conditions such as Cushing's syndrome, where there is an excess of cortisol. It is also indicated in the management of neuroendocrine tumors, such as gastrinomas and carcinoids, which cause significant symptoms due to excessive hormone production. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of acromegaly, which is the result of excessive growth hormone secretion, and can be useful in the treatment of diarrhea associated with neuroendocrine tumors. The use of Octreotide can help control symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients suffering from these conditions.
Composition
Each ampoule of Octreotide Pisa contains: Octreotide (1 mg) and excipients necessary for the formulation of the product.
Contraindications
Octreotide Pisa is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to octreotide or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with severe liver disease or active pancreatitis.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with a history of biliary disease, as it can cause alterations in gallbladder function. In addition, it is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, as Octreotide can affect glucose regulation. It is important to evaluate renal and hepatic function before starting treatment and during it.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
