Indications

Naproxen is used in the treatment of various conditions that cause pain and inflammation. Its indications include, but are not limited to:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Osteoarthritis.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Acute pain, including menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea).
  • Postoperative pain.
  • Pain associated with sports injuries.

The mechanism of action of naproxen is based on the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which results in a decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances that cause inflammation and pain.

Composition

Each tablet contains:

  • Naproxen: 250 mg
  • Excipients: sufficient quantity for 1 tablet

Contraindications

The use of Naproxen is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Known hypersensitivity to naproxen or any component of the formula.
  • Patients with a history of peptic ulcers or recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Severe kidney disease.
  • During the third trimester of pregnancy.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, heart problems, hypertension, liver diseases, and in the elderly. Likewise, it is important to consider monitoring if administered concomitantly with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C and out of the reach of children.
