Indications
Minovag is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by protozoa and certain types of bacteria. It is effective in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, as well as intestinal amebiasis and giardiasis. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, a common cause of sexually transmitted infections. Secnidazole acts by interfering with the DNA of the pathogenic organism, leading to the death of the microorganisms responsible for the infection.
Composition
Each tablet contains 500 mg of secnidazole as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Minovag is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to secnidazole or to any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy and in breastfeeding women without medical supervision. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of neurological disorders.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as the metabolism and excretion of secnidazole may be altered. It is advisable to monitor patients who are undergoing treatment with other medications that affect the central nervous system.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
