Indications

Mexapin is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections that are susceptible to the action of ampicillin. This includes, but is not limited to, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, meningitis, endocarditis, and some gastrointestinal infections. The use of Mexapin should be determined by a physician, who will evaluate the type of infection and the susceptibility of the pathogen involved.

Composition

Each Mexapin capsule contains 500 mg of ampicillin, as well as excipients necessary for the drug's formulation.

Contraindications

Mexapin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ampicillin or any other component of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other penicillin-group antibiotics. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without proper medical supervision.

Precautions

It is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment with Mexapin, as ampicillin is primarily excreted renally. Special care should be taken in patients with a history of colitis, as the use of antibiotics can alter intestinal flora and precipitate this condition. Furthermore, it is important to monitor patients who experience adverse reactions during treatment.
