Indications

Losartan is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used for renal protection in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension and for reducing the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. This medication works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor that contributes to elevated blood pressure.

Composition

Each Losartan tablet contains 50 mg of Losartan potassium as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients necessary for its formulation, which include microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Losartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Losartan or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis in a single functional kidney.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of angioedema, renal or hepatic insufficiency, and in those taking diuretics. It is important to monitor blood pressure and renal function during treatment. This medication should not be used in combination with other antihypertensive drugs without proper medical supervision.

Storage

Losartan should be stored in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of the reach of children.
