Indications
Levetiracetam is indicated for the treatment of partial onset epileptic seizures in adults and children 4 years of age and older. It is also used in the treatment of tonic, atonic, and myoclonic seizures in patients with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. The medication acts as a broad-spectrum antiepileptic and is recommended in cases where other treatments have not been effective. The dosage and treatment regimen should be adjusted individually, based on the patient's clinical response and tolerance.
Composition
Each ml of solution contains 100 mg of levetiracetam as the active ingredient. Excipients: purified water, hydrochloric acid, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levetiracetam or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment unless the dose is adjusted according to established clinical guidelines.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, as levetiracetam can induce behavioral changes. It is important to monitor patients for any signs of depression or suicidal thoughts. Additionally, renal function monitoring is recommended for patients receiving long-term treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
