Indications

Levetiracetam is indicated for the treatment of epileptic seizures in patients with partial epilepsy, as well as for the treatment of myoclonic seizures in patients with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. It is also used in the management of generalized tonic-clonic seizures. This medication works by modulating neurotransmitter release and stabilizing the brain's electrical activity, which contributes to reducing the frequency and severity of seizures.

Composition

Each Levetiracetam 500 mg tablet contains 500 mg of levetiracetam as the active ingredient. It also contains inactive excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication and its proper dispensing.

Contraindications

Levetiracetam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the molecule levetiracetam or any of the product's excipients. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders or aggressive behavior, as an increased incidence of these conditions has been reported in some patients treated with this medication.

Precautions

It is important to monitor patients during treatment with Levetiracetam, especially those with a history of depression or mental disorders. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment is not recommended, as this may increase the risk of seizures. The risk-benefit ratio should be carefully evaluated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
