Indications

Itraconazole is indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections. It is used in the management of onychomycosis (nail infection), tinea (skin infection), and in systemic fungal infections such as Aspergillosis, Candidiasis, and Histoplasmosis. In addition, it is effective in the treatment of cutaneous and mucosal mycoses. Dosage may vary depending on the severity of the infection and the patient's response to treatment. It is recommended that the use of this medication be supervised by a healthcare professional.

Composition

Each 100 mg Itraconazole tablet contains Itraconazole as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

The use of Itraconazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or to any of the components of the formulation. It should not be administered during pregnancy and lactation, unless deemed strictly necessary by the physician. It is also contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure and those receiving potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. It is important to monitor liver function during treatment, and to be alert for signs of adverse reactions. Drug interactions are possible, so the doctor should be informed about all medications the patient is taking.
