Indications

Irbesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is used as initial therapy or as an adjunct in patients who do not achieve blood pressure control with a single antihypertensive drug. This medication acts through the combination of an angiotensin II receptor blocker (Irbesartan) and a thiazide diuretic (Hydrochlorothiazide), which allows for the reduction of blood pressure through different mechanisms, including decreased intravascular volume and vasodilation.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Irbesartan 150 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Excipients: Lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers, as well as in patients with severe renal failure or anuria.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney, liver, or cardiovascular diseases. It is advisable to monitor blood potassium levels, as well as kidney function during treatment. In diabetic patients or those with a history of gout, the use of Hydrochlorothiazide should be evaluated, as it may affect glucose and uric acid levels.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
