Indications

Irbesartan is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is used to lower blood pressure, which can help prevent cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarctions and strokes. In addition, it can be used in renal insufficiency in type 2 diabetic patients to protect renal function in this population. Irbesartan should be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional, who will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment, considering the individual characteristics of the patient.

Composition

Each Irbesartan tablet contains 300 mg of the active substance Irbesartan, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Irbesartan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to irbesartan or any component of the product. It should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision. Furthermore, it is contraindicated in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) or angiotensin II receptor blockers.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypotension, dehydration, or those being treated with diuretics. Regular monitoring of renal function is important in patients receiving this medication, especially in those with diabetes or pre-existing kidney disease. Caution should also be exercised in patients with moderate or severe liver disease.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
