Indications
Isophane Insulin Injectable Solution is indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients requiring adequate blood glucose control. This intermediate-acting insulin is used for hyperglycemia management in adults and children. Its use is recommended in combination with a diet and exercise regimen, as well as in patients who do not achieve adequate control with other oral hypoglycemic agents.
Isophane Insulin works by reducing blood glucose levels by facilitating glucose uptake into cells, which helps maintain proper glycemic balance. Regular glucose monitoring is important to adjust the dose according to the patient's needs and their response to treatment.
Composition
Each mL of the injectable solution contains Isophane Insulin 100 IU, in addition to excipients that ensure the product's stability and efficacy.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to insulin or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered in cases of hypoglycemia or when an imminent hypoglycemic episode is anticipated.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with kidney or liver disease, as well as in those who experience recurrent episodes of hypoglycemia. It is also recommended to adjust the dose in case of changes in lifestyle, diet, or physical activity that may affect the response to insulin.
Storage
Isophane Insulin should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Once opened, its use is recommended within a specific period, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not freeze.
