Indications

Insulin Glargine is indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children who require insulin to control blood glucose. Its use is essential in patients with hyperglycemia who do not achieve adequate glycemic control with oral medications. Insulin glargine provides a prolonged-release effect, which helps maintain stable insulin levels in the body, thus reducing glucose fluctuations. This medication can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetic drugs to optimize diabetes treatment.

Composition

Each ml of injectable solution contains 100 units of insulin glargine. Excipients: water for injection, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).

Contraindications

Insulin Glargine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to insulin glargine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in situations of severe hypoglycemia.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as they may require adjustments in insulin dose. Frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels is also recommended to avoid hypoglycemic episodes. Insulin glargine is not suitable for intravenous administration.

Storage

Store refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. Once opened, the vial can be stored at room temperature (up to 25 °C) for a period not exceeding 28 days.
