Indications

Fluoxetine is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes, as well as for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults and children over 7 years of age. It is also used in the treatment of bulimia nervosa and in the management of panic disorders. Its mechanism of action is based on the selective inhibition of serotonin reuptake in the central nervous system, which contributes to improving the patient's mood and emotional regulation.

Composition

Each capsule contains 20 mg of fluoxetine, as well as excipients such as gelatin, titanium dioxide, and other inactive components that allow for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Fluoxetine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluoxetine or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within two weeks of discontinuing such treatment. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe liver disease.

Precautions

Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizures, bipolar disorder, or those at increased risk of suicide. During treatment, it is important to monitor any changes in the patient's behavior. Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended without proper medical supervision.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
