Indications
Flumedil is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is a medication that helps control blood glucose levels in patients who cannot achieve adequate control through diet and physical exercise. Flumedil works by stimulating insulin secretion by the pancreas, which helps to lower blood glucose. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin, as determined by the treating physician.
Composition
Each Flumedil tablet contains 5 mg of glipizide as the active ingredient, as well as necessary excipients for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Flumedil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glipizide or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, and during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those who are concomitantly treated with other medications that may affect blood glucose. Frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended, and the Flumedil dose should be adjusted as needed. In case of hypoglycemia symptoms, immediate medical attention should be sought.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
