Indications
Human Erythropoietin is indicated for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic renal failure, as well as in patients requiring chemotherapy treatment in the context of malignant neoplasms. Additionally, it is used in the management of anemia associated with autoimmune diseases and in cases of postoperative anemia. Erythropoietin stimulates red blood cell production in the bone marrow, thus improving hemoglobin levels and the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
Composition
Each milliliter of solution contains 2000 IU Human Erythropoietin. Excipients: sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, and water for injection.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, in those who are hypersensitive to erythropoietin or any of the excipients, as well as in patients with anemia not due to iron deficiency or bleeding causes. Its use is not recommended in patients with conditions that could worsen arterial hypertension or in those with a history of thromboembolic events.
Precautions
It is important to periodically monitor hemoglobin and hematocrit levels during treatment. Likewise, blood pressure control is suggested, as erythropoietin can induce hypertension. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease and in those undergoing concomitant treatment with other agents that may affect coagulation.
Storage
Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep the vial in its original packaging and protect from light. Once opened, the product must be used within a specific period of time according to the manufacturer's instructions.
