Indications
Desvenlafaxine ER is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders in adults. Desvenlafaxine acts on neurotransmitters in the brain, specifically serotonin and norepinephrine, contributing to mood improvement and relief of symptoms associated with depression. This medication may be useful for patients who have not responded adequately to other antidepressant treatments. It is recommended that treatment be supervised by a specialized physician, who should evaluate the patient's progress and the treatment's efficacy.
Composition
Each Desvenlafaxine ER 100 mg tablet contains: Desvenlafaxine (as succinate) 100 mg; excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to desvenlafaxine or to any of the components of the formulation. Additionally, its use is contraindicated in patients who are receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of mania or manic episodes.
Precautions
Special caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or seizures. Blood pressure monitoring is suggested during treatment. Furthermore, it is important to consider the risk of serotonin syndrome, especially if combined with other medications that affect serotonin. This medication should not be discontinued abruptly and the physician should guide on gradual dose reduction.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
