Indications

Bapentor (Meropenem) is indicated for the treatment of severe and life-threatening bacterial infections. It is used in the treatment of complicated abdominal infections, lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as in sepsis and bacterial meningitis. It is especially effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics. Its use should be considered in patients with infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to meropenem, based on the susceptibility profile. The administration of Bapentor may be indicated in hospitalized patients requiring intravenous therapy.

Composition

Each vial of Bapentor contains 1G of meropenem as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and intravenous administration.

Contraindications

The use of Bapentor is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to meropenem, other carbapenems, or any of the product's excipients. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins or cephalosporins.

Precautions

Careful evaluation of renal function is recommended in patients treated with Bapentor, as dose adjustments may be required in those with renal impairment. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures or neurological disorders, as meropenem has been reported to increase the risk of seizures in certain cases. In addition, the possibility of cross-allergic reactions should be considered in patients with a history of allergies to other antibiotics.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
