Indications
Azogen is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by organisms susceptible to nalidixic acid. These infections include cystitis and pyelonephritis. Additionally, phenazopyridine provides symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, and urinary frequency associated with urinary tract infections. This medication is useful in managing the pain, burning, and discomfort that accompany these conditions, thus facilitating a better quality of life during treatment.
Composition
Each Azogen tablet contains: 500 mg of nalidixic acid and 50 mg of phenazopyridine.
Contraindications
Azogen is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal insufficiency, due to the risk of phenazopyridine accumulation and potential toxicity. Likewise, its use is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless deemed strictly necessary by a physician.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those who are being treated with other medications that may affect renal function. Medical follow-up during treatment is important, especially if adverse symptoms occur. Furthermore, prolonged use without medical supervision should be avoided, as it may mask symptoms of more serious conditions.
