Indications
Aziphar (azithromycin) is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including, but not limited to:
- Upper respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and pharyngitis.
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including community-acquired pneumonia.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Sexually transmitted infections, such as urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.
Azithromycin acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, leading to their death and a decrease in the infectious load.
Composition
Each Aziphar tablet contains 500 mg of azithromycin as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Aziphar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, to any macrolide antibiotic, or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or severe hepatic dysfunction related to azithromycin use.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney disease. It is important to monitor liver function in patients undergoing prolonged treatment. Azithromycin can cause QT interval prolongation, so care should be taken in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or who are taking drugs that can cause this condition.
Storage
Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30 °C), in a dry place and away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
