Indications

Atorvastatin is indicated as part of a comprehensive low-density lipoprotein (LDL) reduction treatment in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Its use is recommended in combination with an appropriate diet to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with risk factors. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease or in those with type 2 diabetes, regardless of cholesterol levels.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Atorvastatin (as atorvastatin calcium) 10 mg. Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Atorvastatin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or to any of the components of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations in serum transaminases. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or lactating women, or in patients with hereditary muscle diseases.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, untreated hypothyroidism, a history of muscle diseases, or in those who consume excessive alcohol. It is advisable to monitor liver function and creatine kinase levels during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
