Indications

Atomoxetine is indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents aged 6 and older, as well as in adults. This medication acts as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which helps improve attention and impulse control in patients with ADHD. Atomoxetine is not a stimulant, which differentiates it from other commonly used treatments for this condition. A complete patient evaluation is important to determine the suitability of this treatment.

Composition

Each capsule contains: Atomoxetine 40 mg, excipients: lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Atomoxetine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atomoxetine or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and for up to 14 days after discontinuation of these medications, as well as in those with a history of pheochromocytoma or narrow-angle glaucoma.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, manic or psychotic episodes, as well as in those with liver problems. Blood pressure and heart rate monitoring are recommended during treatment. Atomoxetine may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts in young people and should be used under strict medical supervision.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
