Indications
Atomoxetine is indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents aged 6 years and older, as well as in adults. This drug acts as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which can help increase attention and decrease impulsivity and hyperactivity in patients diagnosed with ADHD. Its use should be part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes psychological, educational, and social measures.
Composition
Each ultra capsule contains: Atomoxetine 10 mg, excipients q.s.
Contraindications
Atomoxetine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the molecule or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma and those with a history of pheochromocytoma. Furthermore, it should not be administered in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days after discontinuation of these medications.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering atomoxetine in patients with a history of cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, or psychiatric problems, as it may increase heart rate and blood pressure. Regular monitoring of these parameters is important during treatment. The doctor should be informed of any behavioral changes or the appearance of suicidal thoughts during treatment.
