Indications

Ampicillin is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to this antibiotic. It is effective in managing respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis. It is also used for urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, bacterial meningitis, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. Its use is particularly relevant for infections caused by Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria. It is important that the use of ampicillin be based on cultures and sensitivity tests to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.

Composition

Each vial contains 500 mg of ampicillin as the active ingredient, along with excipients that facilitate its administration and stability.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ampicillin, other antibiotics of the penicillin group, or any of the formulation's components. It should also be avoided in cases of viral infections, as the use of antibiotics in these situations is not effective.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with a history of allergies, asthma, or those who have experienced adverse reactions to other antibiotics. In patients with kidney damage, it is necessary to adjust the dosage. Renal and hematological function monitoring is recommended during prolonged treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
