Indications

Ampicillin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. These include, but are not limited to:

• Respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and pharyngitis.
• Genitourinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis.
• Gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Skin and soft tissue infections.
• Intracranial infections, such as meningitis, in selected patients.

It is important to perform a culture and sensitivity test to determine the susceptibility of the bacterial strain before starting treatment.

Composition

Each ampoule of Ampicillin contains 1 g of Ampicillin in 5 ml of injectable solution.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ampicillin or other penicillin-group antibiotics. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics.

Precautions

Care should be taken when administering Ampicillin to patients with a history of allergies, asthma, or kidney disease. Renal function monitoring is recommended during treatment, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Additionally, the possibility of adverse reactions, such as skin rashes or anaphylaxis, should be considered.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
