Indications
Amoxiclav is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective in the management of respiratory tract infections, including acute and chronic sinusitis, otitis media, and bronchitis. It is also indicated for urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, among others. Its combined action of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid allows it to combat bacterial strains resistant to other antibiotics, making it a valuable option in the treatment of complicated infections.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Amoxicillin 250 mg and Clavulanic Acid 5 mg.
Contraindications
Amoxiclav is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or other antibiotics of the penicillin class. It should also be avoided in patients who have experienced jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with previous administration of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease, or in those with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics. It is important to monitor renal and hepatic function during prolonged treatment. In case of skin rashes or anaphylactic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately.
Storage
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep in a dry place and away from light. The suspension should be used within 7 days of reconstitution, and it is recommended to shake before each use.
