Indications

Amoxiclav is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to its action, such as:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia and acute and chronic bronchitis.
  • Ear, nose, and throat infections, such as otitis media and sinusitis.
  • Urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, such as abscesses and cellulitis.
  • Odontogenic infections.

The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid enhances treatment effectiveness by inhibiting the action of beta-lactamase, allowing the control of infections resistant to other antibiotics.

Composition

Each 5 mL of suspension contains:

  • Amoxicillin trihydrate: 125 mg
  • Potassium clavulanate: 31.25 mg

Contraindications

Amoxiclav is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or any other component of the formula. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction related to the use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics. Follow-up is recommended in cases of prolonged treatment.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
